For families
This page is in preparation: the service will start operating with the pilot phase. Here is how it will work.
How to reach us
The clinical staff tell you about us
At the transplant centres the service is presented directly to patients and their relatives, with information material on the wards. You do not have to look for it.
Or you write to us directly
If you have already begun the journey and nobody has mentioned us, you can contact us yourself. An email is enough.
We call you back and work out what is needed
Accommodation, travel, language, orientation: every situation is different. We start from yours, not from a form.
We stay with you for the whole stay
Not only on the day of the operation: before, during and in the weeks that follow, for as long as it takes.
The three journeys

Frequently asked questions
- Is there a charge for the service?
- No. MAI SOLI is a non-profit association: support for families is free of charge.
- Do you have to register for anything?
- No. The process begins with a referral from the clinical staff or with a message from you.
- Does it also cover lung transplants?
- Yes. The project includes heart and lung from the outset, with the aim of extending to other types of transplant in the future.
- Who can receive financial support?
- Agreements with partners apply to every family we support. Direct financial support follows the criteria of the support regulation, which will be published together with the statutes.
- And if the family speaks neither German nor French?
- That is precisely one of the reasons MAI SOLI exists: we provide Italian-speaking contact people.
The service will start operating with the pilot phase. If you need help now, write to us: we will do what we can.
